| Advent 2008 | This Advent season we are reviewing “The Shack,” a popular, best selling book by William P. Young. The paperback has generated a good bit of interest, having sold several million copies. It has also generated a good bit of controversy in spite of being simply a bit of fiction. |
| The story presents the struggle of a father coping with the death of his daughter. As he seeks to cope with feelings of guilt, sorrow, resentment and anger, the story presents an unexpected and unusual image of God and the relationship God may have with people dealing with the serious problems of living in our world today. | |
| In our study we look at the fictional story and what is presented and compare it with our more traditional definition of God and the relationship with which we have been presented over the years. | |
| The Advent Study concludes with a dramatic presentation by Professor Ian Scott, from Cabrini College, on Christmas Eve to focus our attention on the meaning and significance of Christmas Eve. |
